DAYTON, Ohio – UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball shut out Wright State today in their third and final match of the Dayton Flyer Invitational. They exit the tournament 2-1, with both wins being 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was evenly paced between the two teams, with the highest lead appearing at 24-20, Santa Barbara, before the Gauchos went ahead and scored the set-winning point.
The second set played out similarly, with the Gauchos finally pulling ahead at 21-18. They established a more distinct victory, however, as they allowed Wright State just one more point before winning 25-19.
Finally, Santa Barbara won the third set with its largest margin of 25-18. The Gauchos had control of the set from the start, with the Raiders never taking a lead. The point deficit grew through the tens and the Gauchos reached a dominant 15-8 gap. They had their biggest lead of the season, buffering eleven points at 20-9. Wright State made up some ground, but Santa Barbara was able to confirm the shut out.
Kiersten Schmitt led the Gauchos in kills, making ten, while Layanna Green continued her incredible hit percentage with .500. Jordyn Johnson led the match in blocks with 4 total.

- Eva Travis amassed 34 kills across the three matches, making 3.40 per set
- Schmitt and Gabi Martinez both had 21 kills, while Green and Johnson both had 19
- Green hit .469 over the tournament and had 10.5 blocks
