Gauchos Open Conference Play With Two-Game Home Stand

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball is set to serve off 2025 conference play, hosting Cal State Bakersfield and CSUN to begin Big West competition. 

The Thunderdome will feature the Gauchos versus the Roadrunners on Friday, Sept. 26 and the Gauchos versus the Matadors on Saturday, Sept. 27. Both matches will be played at 7:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Gauchos saw action at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, where they went 2-1 with wins over Illinois State and Wright State with Layanna Green and Kiersten Schmitt making the All-Tournament team.

SCOUTING CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD
The Roadrunners are 3-9 for 2025, their most recent win being over Nevada on Sept. 13. They are led offensively by Nicole Zake and defensively by Luiza De Cruz. 

The Gauchos are 7-2 against Bakersfield, most recently winning on Nov. 9, 2024.

SCOUTING CSUN 
The Matadors are 7-4 on the season and will be coming to Santa Barbara following another road game at Cal Poly. Their first road win happened at the University of San Francisco, whom they defeated 3-1 on Sept. 19. 

CSUN boasts Big West Setter of the Week (Sept. 1) Katie Kolar and Big West Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 1, Sept. 22) Paige Sentes.

UC Santa Barbara is 48-10 against CSUN and is currently on a 12-match win streak (eight of them were sweeps). The most recent victory was on Nov. 8, 2024 in The Thunderdome. 

Both matches will be available on ESPN+ and through live stats.
