SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team earned their first conference win of the season Friday afternoon, taking down UC Davis, 6-1, at the Arnhold Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles play proved tightly contested, with the Gauchos earning their lone win at the No. 3 position as Caroline Beard and Ekua Youri defeated Kaia Wolfe and Aileena Hu, 6-2. UC Davis claimed the doubles point with victories on courts one and two, taking a 6-2 decision at the top spot behind Polina Marakhtanova and Mika Ikemori before Maya Youssef and Isabella Bringas edged My-Anh Holmes and Isabella Wong, 7-6 (7-3), on court two.

Singles play swung decisively in UC Santa Barbara's favor, as the Gauchos swept all six courts to secure the 6-1 victory. Shachf Liebermann set the tone at No. 3, cruising past Maya Youssef with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 performance. My-Anh Holmes followed with a steady straight-set win on court five, topping Kaia Wolfe, 6-4, 6-3, to push UCSB in front.

At the top spot, Ekua Youri delivered a resilient three-set win, recovering from an opening-set deficit to defeat Polina Marakhtanova, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Emma Tutoveanu clinched the match at the No. 4 position, securing a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Penelope Wong.

Isabella Wong added a three-set win on court two, defeating Mika Ikemori, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, before Caroline Beard capped the sweep with a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 win over Aileena Hu at No. 6.
