RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer team played California Baptist to a 0-0 draw on Saturday in-conference play, moving to 7-1-5 overall and 2-0-2 in Big West action. UC Santa Barbara generated a 20-3 advantage in shots and put six attempts on goal while holding CBU to no shots on goal. UC Santa Barbara recorded 10 shots in each half and limited the Lancers to no shots in the first half before the teams finished scoreless.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Santa Barbara generated all of the recorded shot pressure in the first half, outshooting CBU 10-0, but went into halftime scoreless. Earlier,
Zoe Franks and
Chayse Yu put attempts over the goal before
Hailey Tyacke and
Delilah Vega-Aguilar added shots in the opening 11 minutes. UC Santa Barbara kept the pressure on after a 23rd-minute corner, with Tyacke and
Devin Greer each adding attempts before Greer shot again in the 37th minute. The Gauchos' clearest late push came in the 41st minute, when
Sophia Moness forced a save from the CBU goalkeeper.
Isabella Ong followed with another shot, and
Caitlyn Simons had a top-of-goal effort saved as the half ended 0-0.
UC Santa Barbara generated the bulk of the second-half chances but could not find a goal, with CBU goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien saving four Santa Barbara shots as the match ended 0-0. Earlier, after the Lancers took the first shot of the half and earned a corner, Yu had UCSB's first attempt at 58:43 and Greer followed with an effort wide left in the 68th minute.
Olivia Howard forced A CBU save at 73:10, and the Gauchos added attempts from Greer,
Alondra Talamantes and
Emily Caughey around a 78th-minute corner. Vega-Aguilar put two shots on target in the final nine minutes. Talamantes had another saved at 86:42, and UCSB earned a late corner before the scoreless second half closed the 0-0 result.

UC Santa Barbara will go into a partial bye week this upcoming week. The Gauchos will be off Wednesday night and back in action on Saturday, October 10, as they head to Cal State Fullerton. The Gauchos and Titans will clash at 6 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
