Women’s Water Polo to Host Titans in Home Opener

| By:
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Women's Water Polo team is set to host its first home match of the season this Saturday, welcoming Cal State Fullerton for the Gauchos' second Big West contest of the year. Santa Barbara will be looking for revenge after the Titans eked out a two-goal victory in non-conference action back in January.

LAST TIME OUT
Santa Barbara opened conference play last weekend on the road at No. 18 UC Davis, ultimately falling 14-6 to the Aggies. Loretta Hovey and Eliza Harlow each recorded multi-goal performances, combining to score two-thirds of the Gauchos' total goals against the Aggies, displaying continued offensive momentum going into their second conference match this weekend. For Harlow, the goals were her 11th and 12th on the season, putting the defender in a tie for third among all Gaucho scorers and atop the freshman class. Hovey sits second on the team with 15 goals on the season and third in total points, adding five assists for a final haul of 20.

SCOUTING THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton enters Saturday's matchup following its second Big West game of the season, a 15-7 home loss to No. 14 UC San Diego. Sofia Moschetti led the Titans with two goals in the contest, while Delaney Latham, Mia Hatch, Kenzie Searle, Jade Lonzo, and Chandler Burrell each added one. In goal, Renske Boxsem tallied nine saves.
The last Gaucho-Titan meetup came on the second day of the Triton Invitational a little less than a month ago, where Santa Barbara narrowly fell 11-9. This Saturday, the Gauchos will look for junior Molly Souza to repeat her four-goal performance from that matchup. Zoe Ann Watson and Emmerson Ferriera both scored their first collegiate goals in that game as well, with Ferriera firing home a pair.

WHEN AND WHERE TO WATCH
The Gauchos will take to the pool Saturday at 12 noon at Santa Barbara High School, where admission is free and open until venue capacity is reached. Fans unable to attend can follow along with live stats at ucsbgauchos.com/WWPLiveStats.
