DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Baseball team (13-2, 3-0 Big West) hits the road this weekend to take on UC Davis (7-8, 2-1 Big West) in a three-game series from March 13 to March 15. The Gauchos come into the weekend on a 12-game winning streak, one away from matching the longest winning run in program history. The last time Santa Barbara visited the Aggies, now-Twins minor leaguer Ryan Gallagher masterminded a complete game shutout.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Gauchos swept Long Beach State and followed up on Tuesday with a comfortable defeat of Saint Mary's. In their three games against the Dirtbags,
Noah Karliner,
Cole Kosciusko, and
Colin Beazizo each hit home runs, while Karliner led the way with 3 RBIs on the weekend. Against the Gaels, Karliner continued to impress, hitting his fourth homer of the season.
On the mound,
Jackson Flora,
Raymond Olivas,
Kellan Montgomery, and
Van Froling each collected wins, with Olivas and Froling earning their first victories of the season. The Gauchos currently rank fifth in the NCAA with an earned run average of 2.52. Flora leads the squad with an ERA of 1.50.
As the Gauchos prepare for their second Big West series of the season, they will look to extend their 12-game win streak and remain perfect in conference play.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
The UC Davis Aggies head into Friday's match with a 7-8 overall record after clinching a 2-1 series victory in their conference opener at UC Riverside last weekend. Over the three-game series, the Aggies' Ryan Lee accumulated 3 RBIs.
On the season, Tyler Howard leads the Aggies with a .340 batting average, while Evan Gentil leads with 15 RBIs and 3 homers total.
The Aggies will likely have Noel Valdez, Keenan Anzai, and Mason Lerma on the mound, where Anzai and Lerma each have perfect records on the season so far. Among the trio, Lerma leads with an ERA of 3.21.
