IRVINE, Calif. – Following the last week of non-conference play for the UC Santa Barbara softball team, freshman Dain Rauscher earned her first weekly award, being named The Big West Freshman of the Week after her performances against LIU and Iowa State.
 
Rauscher went 9-for-21 (0.429) at the plate, including a double and a triple. The San Jose native drove in three runs and scored two times herself. Over her 22 plate appearances, she did not strikeout and drew one walk while adding a stolen base. The freshman is now a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases this season.
 
Rauscher and the Gauchos begin conference play this upcoming weekend as they host UC San Diego on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. The Gauchos and Tritons will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available.
