LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball played its final game of the regular season Saturday, an away contest against UC San Diego who won 72-65.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Olivia Bradley was the first scorer of the game, laying-up two to get things started. Zoe Borter and Maddie Naro then sank back-to-back three-pointers to give the Gauchos an early 8-0 lead. It was a high-scoring quarter for both teams and ended in a tie at 19-19. Borter slotted another three and the Gauchos shot 50% from the arc during the first.
The Gauchos found a five point lead early in the second at 26-21, but UCSD overhauled and saw its first heading at 27-26 halfway through. Two driving layups and two more threes from Borter and Naro kept the Gauchos on track and they left the half up again at 36-33.
Santa Barbara had its lowest point tally during the third quarter, making just ten to San Diego's 15. The Tritons reached a six-point lead at 42-36, but the Gauchos leveled at 46-46 with three from Zoe Shaw. San Diego ended ahead, however, at 48-46.
The Gauchos reached multiple leads in the final quarter, going as far as 60-59. They trailed for the remainder, ultimately unable to gather the final points to contest San Diego. The Tritons scored 13 more points to defend their home court and ended ahead 72-65.
Borter reached 21 points for her eighth 20+ point game.She shot a remarkable 80% overall and 83% in three pointers, going 8-10 and 5-6. Maddie Naro reached 250 career assists.

The Gauchos will enter the Big West Championships as the No. 6 seed. They will play No. 7 UC Riverside on March 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Henderson, Nev.
