IRVINE, Calif. – Two Gauchos have been awarded Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for March 9, with George Bruening being named Offensive Player of the Week and Dylan Pilkvist Freshman of the Week. 

Bruening delivered 19 kills and hit .324 in the Gauchos' upset of UC San Diego on March 7. He averaged 3.8 kills per set and put up three blocks. 

With the nod, Bruening earns his third overall weekly award and second Offensive Player of the Week award. He previously earned Offensive Player on Jan. 12 and Defensive Player on Feb. 23.

Pilkvist received his first award following his performance in the 3-2 defeat of the Tritons. He made four kills off of eight attempts and made four aces overall, three of them in a row. 

The Gauchos also moved up to No. 11 in the AVCA National Coaches Poll for the week of March 9.
