Gauchos Sweep on Senior Day

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – No. 48 UC Santa Barbara closed out its home slate in winning fashion Friday afternoon, sweeping CSUN 4-0 at the Arnhold Tennis Center on Senior Day to remain undefeated in conference play.

The match also marked the final home appearance for Shanelle Iaconi and Carla Pacot, who were honored after the for their contributions to the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos were tested early in doubles but responded when it mattered to secure the opening point. After CSUN took court one, Emma Tutoveanu and My-Anh Holmes answered with a 6-2 win on court three. With the point on the line, Shanelle Iaconi teamed up with Lily Pradkin to deliver a clutch 7-6 (7-2) tiebreak victory on court two, giving UC Santa Barbara the early 1-0 lead in fitting fashion on Senior Day.

UC Santa Barbara carried that momentum into singles and quickly created separation. Raphaelle Leroux was first off the court with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 to double the lead. Tutoveanu followed with a 6-2, 6-4 decision on court two, putting the Gauchos one point away.

At the top spot, Isabella Wong clinched the match with a composed 6-4, 7-5 win on court one, sealing the sweep. Three matches went unfinished as the Gauchos secured the victory.
