LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the National Collegiate Men's Volleyball 2026 All-American teams on Wednesday, including UC Santa Barbara's George Bruening and Cole Schobel as honorable mentions.
Bruening led the Gauchos on the attack, totaling 306 kills and averaging 3.73 kills per set. He ended the season ranked No. 16 in the NCAA in both kills per set and points per set. He contributed 60 blocks and 97 digs on the defensive end. Bruening was the Gauchos biggest threat on the outside this season – he tallied 20 or more kills in five matches and had double digits in over 15.
Schobel was the engine behind the UC Santa Barbara offense this season, averaging 9.08 assists per set and totaling 790. Schobel also led the team defensively with 139 digs and 1.66 per set. He was active across the court, also bringing in 80 kills, 33 service aces and 33 blocks.
