SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Jackson Flora received his first career All-American honor on Wednesday. Thirty minutes later, he collected his second. Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association both named UC Santa Barbara Baseball's star pitcher to their All-America First Teams within half an hour of each other, making him the 11
th pitcher and 14
th Gaucho overall to earn at least one All-America honor under head coach
Andrew Checketts.

Even before he broke UC Santa Barbara's single-season strikeout record during the Austin Regional, Flora's All-America credentials have been top-notch. Perfect Game named him a Preseason All-American before the campaign even began. He was the Golden Spikes National Player of the Week after throwing a complete game shutout against Cal Poly on April 2, and he appeared on the Golden Spikes Preseason and Midseason Watch Lists en route to being named one of 25 semifinalists for the award, given to the best amateur baseball player in the country. Earlier this awards season, the NCBWA named Flora District 9 Player of the Year, the best college baseball player across California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii. On Tuesday, Perfect Game named him the College Pitcher of the Year.

One glance at Flora's resume, and the stats jump off the page. His 1.06 ERA leads all qualified Division I pitchers, and it never exceeded 1.50 at any point in the season. His 133 strikeouts are not only a program single-season record, they also put him third among all Division I arms. At the end of the NCAA Regional round, no pitcher had more wins than Flora's 12, nor were any allowing fewer hits per nine innings than Flora's 4.85. That second stat was a big part of why Flora also ranked third nationally in WHIP — which measures walks and hits allowed per inning pitched — with a mark of just 0.85.
