Eric Childress is one of the top returning point guards in the Big West Conference...A very good playmaker, Childress has also emerged as an outstanding three-point shooter and is now a true double-threat...2015-16: Childress was named Honorable Mention All-Big West following a junior season in which he averaged 6.6 points, 4.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game...Was among the Big West Conference leaders in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.1-to1...Childress was one of two players to start all 33 games during the 20015-16 campaign...Had a career-high nine assists in a home victory over Cal State Northridge...Had eight assists, to go along with a career-high eight rebounds, in a road win at Cal Poly...Also had seven assist performances in a win at Washington and a home conquest over Cal State Fullerton...Childress collected five or more assists 13 times and UCSB was 10-3 in those games...In five games against Pac 12 opponents, he averaged 5.0 assists per game...His total of 142 assists were the eighth most in school history and his three-year total of 306 rank 10th entering his senior season...In addition to his playmaking abilities, Childress emerged as an offensive threat as a junior...Scored in double-figures six times, including a career-high in games at Long Beach State and vs. Cal State Fullerton...Had seven or more points 15 times...Averaged 7.1 points per game over the final 29 contests...Was third on the team with 32 three-point baskets and led the way at 45.1%...Before closing the season by making two of his final 11 threes, Childress was 30-of-60, 50.0%...Made a career-high four triples, in four attempts, vs. UC Irvine...Hit two or more eight times...His 32 three-pointers were 15 more than he hit in his first two seasons combined...Made at least one three in 22 games, including nine straight and 13 out of 14 at midseason...The 6-footer also became one of the team's top rebounders during his junior season as he averaged 3.8 per outing...In addition to his career-high eight at Cal Poly, Childress had seven at Seattle and Arizona State...Had five or more boards 10 times...Accumulated a career-high six steals in a Big West Tournament game against Hawai'i...In fact, he had nine of his 41 steals in the league tourney...In his three seasons at UCSB, Childress has played in all 96 of the Gauchos' games.

2014-2015
Childress had a rollercoaster sophomore season...Averaged 2.9 points, 2.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game...Played in all 33 games, starting eight...Scored in double-figures twice, going for 11 vs. Cal State Fullerton and 10 against Hawai'i...Passed off for a season-high six assists and had a career-high eight rebounds in a win over Washington State...Also had a career-high eight boards vs. UC Riverside...Over a three-game stretch late in January, Childress had 19 rebounds, 6.3 per game...Had five or more assists six times, all within the first 24 games of the season...Shot just 36.1% for the year, but after opening the season by making 2-of-15 shots, he shot 41.2% over the final 28 games...Made just one of his first 15 three-point attempts, but went 6-of-11 to close the season.

2013-2014
Childress played in all 30 games as a freshman and, along with Zalmico Harmon, gave the Gauchos an outstanding 1-2 punch at the point...Made two starts, but averaged 20.9 minutes per game...Finished second on the team with 94 assists, the second highest total by a freshman in UCSB history...Childress averaged 5.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game to go along with his 3.1 assists per outing...His 28 steals were second on the team and the fourth most by a Gaucho freshman...Scored in double-figures three times, including a season-high 11 in a win at Long Beach State...Also had 10 at Colorado and Seattle...Passed off for five or more assists eight times...Had seven assists at UC Riverside...Childress had six assists at Colorado, vs. South Dakota State, vs. The Master's College and at Cal Poly...Had a season-high three steals at Colorado and had two or more on 10 occasions... Became a credible three-point threat and finished the season at 10-of-29, 34.5%...Made his last three three-pointers over the final four games of the season.

High School
As a senior, Childress led Leuzinger High School to a 24-6 record and a Bay League title and a spot in the CIF Southern Section Division III-A semifinals...Was named Second Team All-State  Division III by CalHiSports.com, First Team All-CIF, Bay League Player of the Year, First Team All-Bay League and All-Area by the South Bay Daily Breeze...Averaged 16.1 points, 4.4 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game...Scored a season-high 28 points vs. Mira Costa HS as a senior...Also had 26 vs. Lawndale...Passed off for a career-high 11 assists against Oak Park HS...As a junior, he averaged 17.7 points, 4.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game and was named All-Bay League and All-CIF...Helped Leuzinger to a 23-6 overall record and a 10-0 mark in league play...During his junior season, Childress had 27 point games against Price HS and Chino Hills HS...Made a career-best seven three-pointers vs. Palos Verdes HS and Burroughs HS...Averaged 12.8 points, 4.6 assists, 3.2 steals and 4.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore...Tallied a career-high 32 points vs. Palos Verdes HS...Also set a career-high with eight steals against Palos Verdes HS...Coached by Ali Parvaz.
