Canty prepped at St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School where he averaged 25.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game...Is the school's all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots, and rannks No. 2 in points...Scored a career-high 40 points and had a career-high 20 rebounds in a game against Richmond HS during his junior season...Also had 10 blocked shots and five steals against Richmond...As a junior he averaged 18.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots and as a sophomore he averaged 13.6 points and 12.6 boards...Helped his school to the CIF North Coast Section finals as a sophomore and to the CIF playoffs as a senior...Was Second Team All-State and Defensive Player of the Year...In addition to his basketball accomplishments, Canty was a star football player in high school and originally signed a National Letter of Intent to play defensive end at Washington State...As a senior in high school, he led the team with 79 tackles and was named Vallejo Times-Herald Defensive Player of the Year...On the AAU level, he played for the Oakland Soldiers where he was a teammate of Gabe Vincent...Played for Derek Walker at St. Patrick-St. Vincent.
