Bryson was named Big West Player of the Week for the second time this season and fifth time in his
career after leading the Gauchos to wins at Cal State Fullerton and CSUN last weekend...Had Made 5-of-8 three-pointers, scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds and passed for three assists on Feb. 27 at Fullerton...The five threes against the Titans made Bryson UCSB’s all-time leader in three-point baskets, breaking James Powell’s record of 221...He now has 223 three-pointers...Scored 13 points and had four rebounds in the Feb. 25 win at CSUN and in doing so became the eighth player in school history to score 1,500 in his career...He recorded his fourth double-double of the season on Feb. 11 at UC Davis when he had 16 points and 10 rebounds...Scored 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had seven assists and two blocked shots in the Feb. 6 win over CSUF...It was the eighth time Bryson has scored 20 or more this season...Scored 25 points and eight rebounds before fouling out on Jan. 28 at Long Beach State...It was his three free throws with one second left that tied the score to force the game to over time...Averaging 18.7 points per game, tops in the Big West...While Bryson is shooting 48.0% overall, he is 69-of-134 in the last nine games, 51.5%...His three other double-doubles came vs. Hawai’i (16 points, 10 rebounds), at Hawai’i (16 points, 10 rebounds) and at Seattle (36 points, 13 rebounds)...Was named Big West Player of the Week for the first time this season after leading the Gauchos to three wins in six days between Dec. 28 and Jan. 2...Averaged 22 points and 8.3 rebounds as UCSB posted road wins at Washington and Seattle University and then defeated Point Loma at home...In the Dec. 30 win at Seattle, Bryson set career-highs with 36 points, nine three-point baskets, 18 three-point attempts and 13 rebounds...The nine threes tied a school record originally set by Brian Johnson on Feb. 7, 1987...Had 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in the Dec. 28 win at Washington...Bryson has scored in double-figures in 25 of his 26 appearances this season, in fact, he has scored 13 or more in all 25 of those games...Tied his previous career-high when he tallied 29 on Dec. 22 vs. Iona...In the 80-76 win over Iona, he had career-highs of 10 free throws and 11 attempts...Had 23 points on Nov. 16 at Cal and on Nov. 29 at Arizona State...Averaged 18.4 points in five games against Pac 12 opponents...Seven of his nine highest scoring effor ts have come away from home...Now has 1,523 career points, 8th in school history...Needs 58 points to pass Mark Hull (1,580) for 7th-place all-time...Second on the team with 54 three-pointers, hitting at least one in 22 of 26 games and two or more 15 times...With his 164 rebounds this season, Bryson has moved past the 500 rebound mark with 552...Has had five or more rebounds 19 times this season, including 14 of the last 17 games...Has already set a career-high with 70 assists and now has 211 in his career... Bryson was named First Team All-Big West following his junior season...In 2014-15, Bryson was second on the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game and rebounding at 4.8 per game...On Mar. 4, 2015 at Hawai’i, Bryson scored 22 points and became the 27th UCSB player to score more than 1,000 in his career...He finished the season with 1,043 career points, 25th in school history...Scored in double-figures 24 times in 34 games...Scored 10 or more in eight straight games on two occasions, the longest streak of his career...Had a season-high 26 on Feb. 14 at CSUN...Hit 5-of-7 three-point attempts against the Matadors, also a season-best effort...Bryson had his second career double-double when he went for 25 points and 10 rebounds at nationally-ranked SMU...Paced the team with 458 points...Led the team with 68 three-point baskets, and with 169 in his career he ranks ninth all-time...Made at least one three in 27 games and two or more in 19...In the last six games of the regular season, Bryson made 24-of-53 threes, 45.2%...Set UCSB record with 34 straight free throws during the season...Shot a team-best 85.4% from the line, a figure that ranks fourth on UCSB’s all-time single season list...Scored 20 or more points nine times after doing so just three times in his first two seasons combined...Averaged 18.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the seven games that Alan Williams missed...Tied a career-high five assists on Feb. 7 vs. Hawai’i...Had four or more assists four times, all in the last 11 games.

Bryson was chosen Honorable Mention All-Big West after averaging 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists as a sophomore...Finished second on the team in scoring and in three-point baskets...Had 55 three-pointers and made 41.7% from outside the arc...Scored a season-high 21 points in a win at the University of San Diego...Had 19 points against Cal Poly in the Big West Tournament and also at UC Davis...Scored 15 or more points nine times and 10 or more on 23 occasions...Had his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds at UCLA...Narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and nine boards vs. Long Beach State...Bryson had five or more rebounds 10 times...Made a season-high five three-point baskets vs. Cal Poly and at San Diego...Made two or more threes 15 times...Closed the season by making 15 of his final 25 three-point attempts, 60.0%...Had 16 points and eight rebounds in a win at Long Beach State and his 16 points included a put-back at the buzzer to give UCSB a 65-64 win...Bryson collected a career-high five assists at UCLA...Averaged 29.2 minutes per game and logged 30 or more 18 times...Improved in virtually every statistical category from his freshman to his sophomore season, but most significantly, he improved his overall field goal percentage from 38.9% to 47.2% and his three-point percentage from 32.4% to 41.7%...Was named Big West Player of the Week twice during his sophomore campaign...Bryson set UCSB a freshmen record in the first round of the 2013 Big West Tournament when he scored 29 points against Pacific...In that same game he tied the freshman record with seven three-pointers...Over his last 40 games, including all 29 of his sophomore season and the final 11 of his freshman season, Bryson averaged 11.8 points per game and made 47.4% of his field goals...Has 101 career three-point baskets, ranking first among active Gauchos.
2012-2013
Bryson finished his first season at UCSB with a rush...While he averaged 8.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, he scored a school freshman record 29 points in the team's Big West Tournament game against eventual-champion Pacific, making a record-tying seven three-point baskets in the process...The 29-point outburst was the culmination of an outstanding end-of-season run...Averaged 12.7 points over the final 11 games, shooting 47.8% overall and 35.4% from three-point range...Over the final 12 games of the year he averaged 4.7 rebounds per game...In all, scored 10 or more points 12 times in his 30 games, including nine of the last 10 and 11 times in the final 17...Had 15 points in a game against Long Beach State and 14 at Hawaii and Cal State Northridge...Ranked third on the team with 46 three-point baskets, the second most by a freshman in school history...Collected a season-high eight rebounds against UC Davis and had seven in games against San Diego and at Long Beach State...Grabbed five or more boards 10 times...In addition to everything else, he blocked 17 shots and had a career-high three against Cal Poly...Had three steals against Cal Poly and Pacific.

Michael Bryson was born on September 30, 1994 in Merced, Calif…The son of James and Audra Bryson…At various times, he also competed in football, baseball, cross-country, track, and tennis…Member of the Principal’s Honor Roll…Was voted his high school’s Best Athlete as a senior…Roots for the Sacramento Kings and Oakland Raiders…Most memorable athletic moment was his first dunk…Enjoys watching Step Brothers, The Hangover, Family Guy, The Boondocks and American Dad…Undeclared major, but hopes to work with sports medicine and kids.
