Randy DeWeese joined the Gaucho coaching staff prior to the 2024 season. Rounding out a trio of coaches to join their former head coach Rick McLaughlin on the bench, DeWeese played for the program from 2017-2021.
As a player, DeWeese spent the first three years of his collegiate career as a setter. In 2020, he moved to opposite and immediately made an impact, winning two Big West Offensive Player of the Week awards and guiding the Gauchos to a 14-2 record before the season shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following year, DeWeese and the Gauchos won their first Big West Championship on the way to the NCAA Championship semifinals. He ended the season as an AVCA First Team All-American after being named to the Second Team in 2020, earning First Team All-Big West honors in both seasons.
After his time playing as a Gaucho, DeWeese played professionally in Greece for one season and Germany for two seasons.
