Stephen Loomis

Stephen Loomis joined the UC Santa Barbara Men's Water Polo team in January 2021, coming on as an assistant coach with the program. 

Prior to joining the Gauchos, Loomis was a former professional water polo player in the Primera División in Spain, where he led the league in assists and ranked in the top-five in goals during the 2013-14 season. He also played in the Italian Serie A league, leading the team in scoring in the A2 northern division. Not only that, but Loomis was named the team MVP for the professional clubs Albaro-Nervi, RN Sori and Lavagna Di Meglio all between the 2015-18 seasons.

Before he began his professional career, Loomis played for four seasons at Pepperdine University. He finished his career as an All-American as he lead the Waves in goals with 48 and steals with 18. Over the course of the four seasons, Loomis played in 80 matches while recording 95 goals (1.2), 41 assists and 42 steals.
