Played in 17 matches of the season with 11 shots and five goals…Had one assist and five steals…Scored two goals against Occidental Sept. 9…Also had three drawn exclusions.
2016
Played in 21 games, scoring three goals on five shots…Defensively, Young tallied three steals and a field block…Won all five of his attempted sprints for the Gauchos.
2015
Played in two games and tallied two shots…Recorded one steal.
2014
Mitchell Young sat out the 2014 season as a redshirt.
High School:
Attended Sir Francis Drake High School and played for Head Coach, Matt Swanson. Earned a total of six varsity letters, four for water polo and two for swimming...Played center, utility, and attacker. Was a starter on varsity since he was a freshman, and lead the team in scoring in 2013. Was a junior Olympic All American, MCAL player of the year in 2013 and also MCAL First Team All League in 2010-2012.
Personal
Michell Daniel Young was born on May 18th, 1996 in Greenbrae, Calif., Son of Dan and Denise Young, Mitch has an older brother, Scott. Also competed in swimming and baseball. Won academic awards like the Drake Scholarship Award from 2010-2013 and the Drake High School Outstanding Scholar Athlete in 2010 and 2012.. Favorite sports teams are the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, and New Orleans Saints. Favorite movies are "Step Brothers" and "Lone Survivor"...Outside the pool, Mitchell likes surfing, scuba diving, and spending time with friends and family.
