Sara Anastasieska was hired as the Director of Basketball Operations in May 2023, she joins the Gaucho staff after serving as a Player Development Coach at Unlimited Potential Basketball since January 2023.
Anastasieska also gained coaching experience during the last few months of her time at Illinois as she trained her old teammates and put them through workouts. At Unlimited Potential Basketball, Anastasieska was involved with group training along with private training. Anastasieska said her main goal was for her clients to be open-minded about getting better in their game.
Anastasieska, a native of Sydney, Australia, started off at the University of Texas, San Antonio, before moving on to play basketball at the University of California, Berkeley, along with Duke University. She completed her final season of collegiate basketball at the University of Illinois and graduated in December 2022 with a Master's degree. Anastasieska finished her college career with a total of 545 points, 143 rebounds, 116 assists, and 52 steals.
"We are excited to have Sara join our program!" said Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson. "Sara's experience as a player along with her work as a skills trainer will have an immediate impact on our team."
Anastasieska attended the University of California, Berkeley and Duke University earning her M.S. Business Administration degree before attending the University of Illinois and earning her M.S. Recreation, Sport, and Tourism degree.
