Maggie Kane

The 2021-22 season is Maggie's first year as assistant coach. She joins the Gauchos following a two-year stint serving as the volunteer assistant coach for The University of North Carolina. 

During her time on the coaching staff at UNC the Tar Heels won back-to-back ITA National Team Indoor Championships, set an ACC record going on a 48-0 match winning streak, won a 5th straight ACC Championship and finished the 2020 season ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time in program history. Additionally, she coached Makenna Jones and Elizabeth Scotty to an NCAA Doubles National Championship in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Kane, a Raleigh, N.C., native was a four-year member of the UNC women's tennis team from 2014-2018. She was captain during her senior campaign and was awarded Most Improved Player honors that season after also garnering the award as a freshman in 2015-16. She won three ACC Championships between 2016-18 and was on the 2015 and 2018 teams that won the ITA Indoor National Team Championship.

She received numerous honors and awards for her work in the classroom. Kane was listed on the ACC Academic Honor Roll all four years, an ITA Scholar-Athlete as a senior and was a recipient of the 2017-18 Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award that recognizes a top academic performer on each Tar Heel team.

Kane, who spent four years with the Richard A Baddour Leadership Academy, was named a 2017-18 Tar Heel Leader of Distinction, the highest honor bestowed by the Leadership Academy. She also was a recipient of a 2016-17 Iron Ram Award, the top award for each team in Strength and Conditioning.

 
Prior to being the volunteer assistant at UNC she served in the same capacity at Charleston Southern University during the 2018-19 season. During the same school year, she worked as a Commercial and Digital Media Intern for the ATP Tour and served as a coordinator for partnership services at Learfield IMG College at the College of Charleston.
