Played in 91 sets through 25 matches…Second on the team with 488 assists, averaging a team-leading 5.36 assists per set…Third on the team with 169 digs, averaging 1.86 per game…Fourth on the team with a career-high 16 service aces…Tallied two blocks and seven kills…Recorded a season-high 15 digs versus Cal Poly…Had a season-best 30 assists in UCSB’s 3-1 win at Cal State Fullerton…Delivered a season-high four service aces at Cal Poly.

2014
As a junior, Nielson led UCSB with 5.39 assists per set, as she tallied 528 total on the season…She also finished the year averaging 1.79 digs per set in totaling 175 scoops…Nielson also added a block assists along with 11 kills with a .500 hitting percentage…She set a season-high with 37 assists versus Virginia Commonwealth (8/31/14)…Recorded five double-doubles, including a 26-assist and season-high 14-dig performance in the season finale at Cal Poly (11/26/14)…One of just four players to appear in all 27 matches and 98 sets.

2013
Nielson's sophomore campaign included playing in all 29 matches for the season, only one of six players to do so...She had a team-high 719 assists (7th in the Big West) and 6.6 assists per set (9th in the Big West)...Nielson also had 170 digs and recorded 1.56 digs per set, putting her fourth and fifth on the team respectively...Had season-highs of 51 assists in a five-set win over Nevada and 14 digs in a four-set win over Cal Poly...Also ranked fourth on the team with being in 109 sets.

Big West All-Freshman Team
As a freshman, Hanna was just one of five players to compete in all 31 matches. She was the Gauchos’ starting setter and finished the season with a team-high 1285 assists, which places her just shy of the single-season top 10 at UCSB. She was named to the All-Big West Freshman Team as her 10.57 assists per set average ranked her third among conference players. Hanna recorded a career-high 59 assists in a five set thriller against UC Davis on October 1. She complimented her assisting ability with her defensive skills, as she was fourth on the team with 227 digs and 1.86 digs per set.

High School
Played four years for coach Brad Fredrickson at Saratoga High ... Was a four-year starter for the Falcons ... A four-time all-league selection, Hanna averaged 40 assists, 11 kills and 15 digs per match ... Was an All-Central Coast selection in all four years of high school ... Was the Falcons team captain and MVP in 2010 ... Carried the team to the Central Coast Section postseason in 2007, 2008 and 2009 ... Also played basketball for two seasons, helping the team to the league title as a freshman ... Was a two-time all-league pick in that sport and the basketball team was in the playoffs in both of her years as a member of the squad ... Was named the 2007 Redwood Middle School Athlete of the Year.

Played three years for Vision ... On her Vision 18 Gold Team, under the director of Jason Mansfield, Hanna led her team to a bronze medal in the 2011 Junior Olympics and a silver medal at Far Western ... The 18 team won the NCVA Power League and captured a bronze at the Southern California qualifier ... As a member of the Vision 17 Team she served as a captain for coach Will Yven ... The team won a bronze at Junior Olympics where she was selected to the All-Tournament Team ... Carried the squad to a gold medal at Colorado Crossroads and a silver medal at the Pacific Northwest qualifier ... The 17 team also won the Power League ... With the Vision 16 Team and coach Joe Ripp, Hanna was a team captain ... Helped the team to a fifth-place finish at Junior Olympics ... The team won the Power League and also a silver medal at the Colorado Crossroads.

Hanna Nielson entered the world on November 18, 1992 in Mountain View, Calif. to parents John and Jincy ... Has two older siblings - her sister Bryte, who played volleyball at Cal and her brother, Bo, goes to Colorado ... Roots for the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors ... Favorite flick is The Sandlot and Dumb & Dumber ... Listens to country, rap, and basically anything ... Calls upsetting No. 5 Hawai’i in Honolulu (10/11/13) in front of thousands of fans her most memorable athletic accomplishments ... Her favorite athletes are LeBron James, Buster Posey, and Stephen Curry ... Has a dog, Louis, and a cat, Stanley ... Enjoys hanging out with friends and family, going to the beach, and going on adventures…Is a Global Studies major ... Aspires to work in sales in Silicon Valley after college.
