As a junior, Kara was one of just four Gauchos to appearin all 33 of the team's matches. The outside hitter ranked fourthon the team in kills (232) and aces (17), while ranking third indigs (319). Kara finished the season with three consecutivedouble-doubles, totaling eight on the year. Had a career nightagainst Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 19, totaling 16 kills and acareer-high 26 digs as part of a rally-scoring era record 124 digperformance by the Gauchos. Put up a strong all-around performanceagainst Long Beach State on Nov. 23, recording 10 kills, threeaces, and 15 digs.
2011
In her sophomore season, Kara appeared in all of the Gauchos 31games ... Finished third on the team in kills with a total of 323... Averaged 2.67 kills per set and hit at a .118 percentage Wasthird on the squad with 339 total digs, good for a 2.80 average ...Also took third-best on the team in service aces with 18 averaging0.15 ... Additionally, Sherrard had 43 total blocks on the season(0.36 per set) ... Earned double doubles in 13 games ... Had 19games with double-digit kills, garnering a season-high of 18 twice– Oct. 1 vs. UC Davis and Oct. 21 vs. Cal State Fullerton ...Had 18 games with double-digit digs, including a career-high 22 onOct. 29 at Pacific ... In her first season of action, Kara recorded 254 killswhich placed her third on the team and she was a member of theAll-Big West Freshman Team ... She led the team with 22 aces andappeared in all but four of UCSB's 111 sets ... Her 2.37 kills perset were third on the team ... Averaged 2.81 kills per set and 2.73digs per set during conference play ... She tallied 284 digs, whichranked her fourth on the Gauchos as did her 2.65 dig per setaverage ... In her junior and senior years at Quartz Hill High, Kara led theRebels to consecutive undefeated Golden League seasons...As asenior she was named Golden League Player of the Year and FirstTeam All-CIF Southern Section...Also served as the team'scaptain...As a junior was also a First Team All-CIF SouthernSection pick as well as First Team All-Golden League and was namedthe Best Outside Hitter in the Golden League...Averaged 5.6 killsper game with a 51.4 hitting percentage and a 60.8 killpercentage...Helped team to CIF quarterfinals as a senior andsemi-finals as a junior...That was the furthest the school had gonein the state tournament...Named the 2009 Quartz Hill High FemaleAthlete of the Year...Also competed in soccer and was named the2007 Defensive Player of the Year.
