Biography
2023: Big West Player of the Year... All-Big West First Team for a 3rd consecutive year... Big West All-Academic Team... Appeared in every match for the Gauchos in their 2023 season that featured a NCAA tournament appearance... she had one of her best games of the season against No. 23 Iowa State, hitting at a .415 clip with 19 kills and only two errors on 41 swings... had career highs in digs with 282, kills with 434, and points with 511.... had 11 double double games... posted a season high 21 kills twice against Drake (Sept. 15) and Pepperdine (Aug. 31).
2022: All-Big West First Team ... Big West All-Academic Team ... appeared in all 30 matches playing a total of 109 sets for the Gauchos ... led the team in kills with 357 ... was fourth in The Big West for kills, fifith in aces (35), seventh in points per set (3.90), eighth in points (425) and ninth in kills per set (3.28) ... put up 11 double-doubles during the season ... reached a career-high 18 digs and a season-high 21 kills against UC Davis (Nov. 17) where she also tallied four blocks.
2021: Big West Freshman of the Year ... All-Big West First Team ... Two-Time Big West Offensive Player of the Week ... Four-Time Big West Freshman of the Week ... spectacular debut season as she played in every match for the Gauchos ... led the team with 368 kills and 431.5 points, which put her fifth in The Big West in those respective categories ... third on the team in blocks with 75, block assists with 67 and digs with 197 ... reached double-digits kills in 22 matches ... saw a season-high 25 kills in a five-set match against UC Irvine (Oct. 29) ... put up double-doubles in five matches, one of which was the first match of the season against Illinois as this freshman notched 16 kills and 12 digs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named the MaxPreps Player of the Year as a sophomore ... followed up her early success by winning back-to-back Cal-Hi NCS Volleyball Player of the Year awards and earning a Prep Volleyball All-American Honorable Mention nod ... led her team to three-straight league titles ... named to Prep Volleyball's Top 100 Senior Aces list.
CLUB: Competed for Nets Volleyball in Hayward before joining Red Rock Volleyball from 2016-2020.
PERSONAL: Michelle Ajiri-Oghene Ohwobete was born on November 13, 2001 ... daughter of Austine and Grace Ohwobete ... has three siblings: Jemima, Joanne, and Audrey ... majoring in economics ... sings the National Anthem at many of the UC Santa Barbara sporting events.
