Kristen Denney attended Carlmont High School...Scored 195 goals and 102 assists during her four-year prep career...Also had 74 steals...Denney was a Second Team High School All-American in 2014-15...A three-time First Team All-Pacific Athletic League selection...Selected a starter for the CIF Central Coast Section All-Star Team...Chosen Carlmont HS MVP four times...Team captain...Earned Carlmont Athletic Department Female Hall of Fame honor three times for water polo and three times for swimming...Denney helped her high school team to three CIF Central Coast Sectionals and two section finals...Also competed in swimming as a high school athlete, setting school records in the 50 and 100 freestyle...Also a member of her school's 200 and 400 freestyle record holders as well as the 200 medley relay record holders...Qualified for the CCS Championships all four years in three individuall events and three relays...Named Carlmont's Most Valuable Swimmer on three occasions...Chosen First Team All-Pacific Conference four consecutive years.

Denney played for the Stanford Water Polo Club for eight years...She was USA Water Polo Academic All-American in 2012-13 and Academic All-American with Distinction in 2013-14 and 2014-15...Was a Junior Olympic All-American, 16 and under in 2013...Stanford WPC finished seventh in the Junior Olympic Platinum Division in 2012 and 2013...Finished 14th-place in 2014 and 11th in 2015...Compted in the Cal Cup Tournament four times and the California Club Championship four times, finishing fourth in 2014...Named to the ODP All-Regional Team in 2010-11.

Kristen McLean Denney was born August 9, 1997 in Redwood City, Calif....The daughter of Jon and Sue Denney...Has two older sisters, Amanda and Lauren...Graduated with High Honors from Carlmont HS...Earned Carlmont Gold Award for school involvement, volunteerism and academic achievement...Denney was on her high school Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters...Volunteer for the Project 2020 Athletic Mentors, Mexico Revitalization Project (building homes) and as a swim instructor and lifeguard...Would like to travel after graduation from UCSB...To Denney, one of the best things about UCSB is hanging out at the beach with her friends...Her father swam at Stanford for four years...Started playing water polo at the age of 10...Hobbies include wake boarding, swimming and travel...Favorite athletes are Brenda Villa and Andrew Luck...Her favorite after-practice snack is apples and peanut butter...Roots for the San Francisco Giants...Her most memorable moment was watching the USA Women's Water Polo Team win Olympic gold in 2012...Favorite movies are the Hunger Games series...Grey's Anatomy is her favorite TV show...Hopes to major in environmental studies.
