TEMPE, Ariz. -
Day two comeback meant a big win for UCSB against Arizona State University. After yesterdays upset UCSB came back in full force to take the victory from Arizona Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. Penn State defeated both UCSB and ASU.
With the momentum from yesterday's swims the Gauchos did better than expected. Freshman Jenisse Demeulenaere won the 50 yard fee style (24.26) against both ASU and Penn State. Teammate junior Jen Schwalb won the 200 IM (2:03.98) with freshman Jessica Cruzat behind her taking third over all and second to ASU. The spectacular 400 relay formed by Nadia Dwidar, Liz Wagner, Courtney Jenkins, and Jenisse Demeulenaere took first to ASU and second to Penn State, just a touch behind them.
"This is a big step for our women" Said Head Coach Gregg Wilson. "They have beaten two out of the three Pac-ten teams they have faced this year."
The Gauchos are heading home to face UC San Diego on November 5, 2005 at 10:00am at Campus Pool.
