NORMAL, Illinois (AP) -
Chris Devine scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 71-58 victory over Winston-Salem Friday night at the World Vision Invitational.
Devine's double-double came on 5-of-7 shooting. Paul Roemer added 11 points for the Gauchos (2-3), who at one point led by as many as 18 points.
The Gauchos led 34-23 at the break. The Rams staged a rally in the second half, coming within 11 points with four minutes left. That was as close as they got, though, and UCSB extended their lead to 15 at the 3:41 mark and never looked back.
Jamal Durham and Isiah Tucker both chipped in a game-high 13 points for the Rams (0-4), and Brian Fisher added 12 points. It was the first time this season the Rams have scored more than 50 points in a game.
UCSB had hot shooting across the board, including going 60 percent from the free throw line.
