Gauchos Swept by UC San Diego

Box Score

The Gauchos extended their season long losing streak to eight matches on Saturday night, falling to the UC San Diego Tritons 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-17). With the loss, UCSB falls to 5-17 with a 3-15 conference record.

The UCSB attack struggled again in the loss, as Rick McLaughlin's squad once again failed to produce an attacker with 10 or more kills.

Freshman opposite Matt Marsh led the team in kills for the second straight match, tying junior outside hitter Miles Evans with seven kills. Evans also had a team-high seven dig and three blocks.

Sophomore middle blocker Evan Licht had an outstanding night at the service line, racking up a match-high three aces, more than the entire UC San Diego squad.

Junior middle blocker Dylan Davis was solid, finishing with a line of six kills and two blocks.

The Tritons were led by Carl Eberts, who did a little bit of everything in his team's victory. Eberts had a match-high 16 kills to go along with six digs and five blocks.

With the victory, UC San Diego improved to 8-16, 6-13.

UCSB will host their final homestand of the season next week, when they will welcome Hawai'i to the Thunderdome on Apr. 6 and 7.

Tickets for those final matches can be found here.
