Late OT Goal Gives LMU 2-1 Win Over UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Sarah Sanger scored a goal in the waning seconds of the second overtime on Sunday, giving visiting Loyola Marymount a 2-1 win over UC Santa Barbara.

The game-winner came whe the Lions send a long pass into the Gauchos' zone. Sanger collected the ball and shoved a shot past goalkeeper Beth Ritter, who was charging out to defend the play.

LMU took a 1-0 lead late in the first half ona goal by Nikki Martno, but Dakota Griggs tied the score on a free kick in the 48th minute. It was Griggs' second goal of the season.

UCSB outshot the Lions 10-6, but still dropped the heartbreaker.

The Gauchos return to action on Friday, Sept. 12 whe they host San Jose Stat in a 5:00 p.m. match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. That contest will be followed by a UCSB men's match against Colgate
