UCSB Men and Women Cruise Past UC San Diego Swimming in Dual Meet

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The men and women's swimming teams of UC Santa Barbara scored a big victory over the men and women of UC San Diego in today's duel meet. The men beat UCSD 142.5-111.5, while the women beat the Tritons 139-115.

Kelsey Leonard, Lauren Vosseler, and Billy Mullis each won both of their individual events, as well as the relays they participated on.

The Gaucho women opened up the day with the one-two win in the 200 medley relay. The UCSB "A" relay won handedly, but the "B" relay narrowly edged out the UCSD "A" relay to secure additional points for the Gauchos.

The men followed with a victory in the 200 medley relay as well, edging out the Triton "A" by just .13 seconds. Billy Mullis (24.20 backstroke) and Kevin Mendoza (22.44 butterfly) hosted the fastest splits of the day.

Bobby Guerra and Eric Vanbrocklin would stick together in the top two for the men's distance events, with Guerra taking the win in the 1000 freestyle (9:28.84) and VanBrocklin taking the win in the 500 freestyle (4:33.67).

Kelsey Leonard (4:59.15) took home her third win of the day in the women's 500 freestyle, edging out UCSD's Stephanie Sin by a second and a half.

Kevin Mendoza (49.72) touched first in the men's 100 butterfly, followed by Mason Tittle (50.82) in second and Eddie Sanchez (51.01) in third.
