EVANSTON, Ill. – The UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team (1-1) dropped its road contest at Northwestern 72-46 at the Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Gauchos were run into an early hole, down 21-4 after the first quarter after Northwestern scored 18 unanswered from the 6:42 mark through to the end of the period.
• UCSB wouldn't manage to overcome the deficit, but the team did outscore the Wildcats 16-15 in the second quarter, led by six points from senior guard Taylor Mole and a pair of jumpers from junior guard Alexis Tucker.
• Tucker led the scoring in each of the final two frames, scoring six and four points, respectively.

NOTABLE

• Tucker's 14 points paced UCSB as nine players scored for the Gauchos.
• Junior center Ila Lane played 32 of 40 minutes in the contest and picked up over a quarter of UCSB's boards, tying for the game lead with Northwestern's Courtney Shaw with 11.
• Sophomore guard Anya Choice and senior point guard Danae Miller each had three assists.

UP NEXT

• The Gauchos travel to Pepperdine next weekend for a matchup against the Waves on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 6:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on the WCC Network and live stats will be available via StatBroadcast.
