HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half (33-31 UT Arlington)
- Despite struggling in the first half the Gauchos managed to hang around with the Mavericks by drawing fouls and getting to the line early and often, but several miscues led to UTA leading for most of the period
- UTA stretched its lead out to as much as seven with just four minutes to go, but UCSB managed to go on a quick run to close the half out and make it just a two point game heading into the locker room
- Sow picked up 14 of his points in the half notching a potent 6-for-7 line
Second Half (37-31 UT Arlington)
- The Gauchos fell flat to kick off the second half not scoring a single point for the first four minutes and allowing the Mavericks to stretch their lead out to double digits
- UCSB's defense picked up allowing UTA to shoot just 39.1% from the field in the half, but the team's offense was once again plagued by 10 total turnovers
- UCSB never led in the second half, cutting the Maverick lead to as little as five with less than two minutes to go, but the visitors were determined to pick up their first road win of the season
