Ricci's 2-Under Par Round Leads UCSB in 2nd Round at Big West Championship

LA QUINTA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara shot a second round 3-over par 291, an improvement of eight shots over the first round, and now sit in fifth-place after two rounds of the Big West Men's Golf Championship at 14-over par.

Freshman Andrew Ricci led the day two charge for the Gauchos as he carded a 2-under par 70. His round included an eagle 3 on the par 5 11th hole as well as four birdies. He jumped 11 spots in the individual standings and is tied for 12th-place with a 2-over 146. Freshman John Bush, who was in sixth-place after Sunday's first round, replicated the 1-over par 73 he shot the previous day, and is also tied for 12th at 2-over.

Junior Jacob Montes shot a 2-over on Tuesday and will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 21st at 5-over. Senior Matt Moomjian is als tied for 21st at 5-over after also recording a 2-over in the second round. Freshman Blake McGovern was 6-over on Monday and 12-over for the tournament, tied for 34th. 

Long Beach State maintained its tournament lead as it shot a 5-under par in the second round and are now hold a 6-under 570 overall, 10 shots better than UC Davis (2nd at 4-over), 12 ahead of Cal State Fullerton (3rd at 6-over), 16 up on Cal Poly (4th at 10-over) and 20 ahead of UCSB.

UCD's Lucas Carper is 7-under par and leads the tournament for the second straight day. Blake Brothers of CSUN, Garrett Boe of CSUF and Hunter Epson of LBSU are each tied for second at 2-under par. Long Beach's Clay Seeber and Isaac Rodea are tied for fifth at 1-under.

The final round of the tournament will be played Tuesday.
