SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 56 UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team beat Santa Clara 7-0 Saturday afternoon in what was their second consecutive shutout as well as their third straight win. The Gauchos (9-5) have been dominant as of late, having outscored their opponents 20-5 in their last five matches.
How it Happened
- Pablo Masjuan and Gianluca Brunkow made quick work of James Bell and Nick Cmager on doubles court three, winning 6-2
- On court one, Mann Shah and Arthur Neuhaus put up a fight, evening the match at four games apiece before Phillip Jordan and Kai Brady won two in a row for a 6-4 victory, securing the doubles point for the Gauchos
- In the singles portion, all six matchups were won by Santa Barbara in straight sets
- Victor Krustev quickly defeated James Bell 6-1, 6-4 on court four. Jordan followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court one to make it 3-0 in favor of the Gauchos
- Alejandro Vedri clinched the match with a court six win over Santiago Hnojosa, prevailing 6-4, 6-1
- The rest of the singles matchups continued after the match was clinched. Stefano Tsorotiotis took down Shah 6-3, 6-2 on court three and Masjuan bested Guillaume Dalmasso 7-5, 6-2 on court two
- Finally, Brady finished off a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cmager on court five, giving the Gauchos their seventh and final point
