IRVINE, Calif. (Feb. 24, 2023) — The No. 15 UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team (11-4, 0-0 Big West) fought hard against the No. 3 UCLA Bruins (12-1, 0-0 Pac-12) in their opening game of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational on Friday at UC Irvine's Anteater Aquatics Complex.

Four Gauchos notched goals against the Bruins in their debut game of the tournament. Caitlyn Snyder added an assist to lead the team with two points in the game, while Drew Halvorson, Cami Mras, and Emily Ferguson each registered a point with their goals.
Friday's efforts bring the Gauchos' record to 11-4 on the season. With three more games slated to take place Saturday and Sunday, the Gauchos hope to further improve their record as the weekend progresses.
UP NEXT
The Gauchos will take on No. 21 San Diego State at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the Anteater Aquatics Complex for their first of two games on the day. Their second match will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the opponent and venue to be determined. With a win over the Aztecs, UCSB will play T-No. 7 Arizona State at the Anteater Aquatics Complex. With a loss, they will play either No. 11 Indiana or T-No. 23 Loyola Marymount at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach.
