UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball Heads South To Take On Tritons

SAN DIEGO (April 6, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball team (5-15, 1-6 Big West) will be back in action to conclude their series with the UC San Diego Tritons in La Jolla on Friday, April 7. These two teams played the first game of the series early in March in Santa Barbara, when the Gauchos came out with the 3-1 win to kick off Big West play.

The Gauchos most recently played No. 1 Hawai'i, where UC Santa Barbara lost both matches in three tight sets. Currently, the Gauchos are No. 1 in The Big West in digs per set and attacks per set as they head into the last three games of the regular season. Ryan Wilcox is by far the team's leader in kills with 239, which averages out to approximately 12 kills per match.

UC San Diego comes into this match with a 7-14 record while boasting the same Big West record as the Gauchos. Their last Big West series was against No. 4 Long Beach State, when the Tritons dropped both matches in three sets to the Beach. Outside hitter Ryan Ka has been the biggest asset for UC San Diego on offense as he has tallied 254 kills so far this season across 20 matches.

First serve will be at 7 p.m. in La Jolla at Lion Tree Arena. The match can be streamed on ESPN+ for those who can't make it in person with live stats available through ucsdtritons.com.
