Gauchos go to Washington for First Meet of 2024

SEATTLE, Wash. – UC Santa Barbara Women's Indoor Track is headed to their first meet of the season, The University of Washington Invitational, held on Friday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 27. After weeks of preparation, the Gauchos are finally ready to take to the track alongside their fellow competitors from across the West.

EVENTS
The Gauchos will be participating in 13 events, featuring 17 athletes across the board. Friday's field events will begin at 5:00 and feature the Gauchos in the triple jump, high jump, and weight throw. Friday's track events will begin at 3:30 with the Preliminary 60m Hurdles and include the Gauchos in the Hurdles, 200m, and 3000m. 

Both track and field events will begin on Saturday at 9:00, starting with the Long Jump and Preliminary 60m Dash, both of which will feature the Gauchos. UC Santa Barbara will also compete in Saturday's 400m Dash, 800m Run, and the 4x100m Relay, as well as the Pole Vault and Shot Put.

PARTICIPANTS 
UC Santa Barbara will be competing against a number of other schools, including Alaska Anchorage, Hawai'i, Oregon State, Seattle, Sacramento State, Portland, Western Washington, Cal Poly, Bushnell, San Francisco, Multnomah, Central Washington, Eastern Washington, Western Oregon, Fresno Pacific, Utah, Saint Martin, Utah State, Gonzaga, UCLA, CSUN, San Diego State, UC Davis, Southern Utah, Stanislaus, Boise State. 

UP NEXT
The Gauchos will return to the track next week at the Riverfront Invitational + Multis hosted by Washington State University in Spokane, Wash., on Feb. 1–3. They will follow up with another visit to the University of Washington on Feb. 9-10 for the Husky Classic.
