Women’s Soccer Face Titans in Fourth Week of Conference Play

| By:
FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer team heads south this week to Cal State Fullerton for their sixth Big West matchup of the 2024 season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos remain unbeaten in conference play. A strong performance at home last week got the squad two more wins to bring their conference record to 4-0-1. A foggy Long Beach State match on Thursday saw two goals from Devin Greer and a game-winner from Ava Jarolimek for a 3-1 final score. Sunday's match against UC Irvine resulted in another Santa Barbara win with a long shot in the 79th minute from Emily Caughey that sailed past the Irvine defense for a 1-0 final score.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
For the second time this season, Devin Greer earned Freshman of the Week. Of her six shots on Thursday against Long Beach State, the two on target found the back of the net. Greer enters this week as the Gauchos leading scorer, leader in points and leads all freshmen in The Big West in goals scored.

SCOUTING THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton Women's Soccer comes into this week with a 2-2-1 record in the Big West (4-8-2 overall). Most recently, a trip to Hawai'i for the team saw a second half goal from the opponent on Sunday resulting in a 1-0 loss for the Titans. The team's two wins in the conference come from shutout performances against Cal Poly and UC Riverside last week.
Goalkeeper Mia Ranson has started all 14 games, finding 66 saves for Fullerton so far this season. Ranson had a career-high 13 saves against No. 2 Stanford and only allowed one goal in the team's third game of the season. Sophomore Kaylee Noble is the top attacker for the Titans with five goals this season. She took 29 shots with over half landing on target. The Gaucho defense will need to have tight coverage to keep the Fullerton attack at bay.
