Greer Headlines Six All-Big West Selections

IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West announced its 2024 women's soccer all-conference teams and award winners Saturday, with six UC Santa Barbara earning a spot on an All-Big West team. Headlining the bunch was Devin Greer who was named The Big West Freshman of the Year.

Devin Greer was the top offensive weapon for the Gauchos this season. The freshman scored six goals and recorded one assist in her first season in the Blue and Gold. Greer earned Freshman of the Year honors, was named First Team All-Big West and also was one of 11 freshman selected to the All-Freshman team. The Sacramento native recorded two multi-goal games against San Jose State and Long Beach State. The six goals are the most by a freshman for the Gauchos since Mallory Hromatko scored eight in her freshman campaign.

Emily Caughey joined Greer on the All-Big West First Team after being a mainstay on the backline for the Gauchos. The sophomore played the most minutes of any Gaucho over the 19-game regular season, playing all 90 minutes 16 times. Caughey recorded one goal and one assist during the season, each being crucial in Santa Barbara's Big West success. Her lone goal, also being her first career collegiate goal, came against UC Irvine in the 78th minute and going down as the game-winning goal. Her assist came in the conference opener against Cal Poly, as she served a ball into the box, finding the foot of Jessica Carlton who buried the ball in the 79th minute to give the Gauchos a win.

Maddie Buckley was a wall in net all season, earning her a selection on the All-Big West Second Team. Buckley started 16 of the 19 matches in goal and limited opponents to less than one goal per game. The sophomore allowed just 11 goals giving her a 0.71 goals-against average, which topped the conference and ranks 38th nationally. She recorded 50 total saves and posts a 0.820 save percentage which ranks 59th nationally. The Lafayette, California native didn't stop there as she posted eight clean sheets, seventh most in a single-season.

Joining Buckley as an All-Big West second team selection is O'Callaghan Liu. During the 2024 season Liu found the back of the net twice and assisted on two more in her senior campaign. The midfielder scored her first goal of the season against San Jose State before finding the back of the net again against UC San Diego. Her goal against the Tritons was the difference as it went down as her first collegiate game-winner. Her two assists came a nearly a month apart with her first being against Colorado College on Sept. 8 and her second coming in Big West action on the equalizing goal against Long Beach State on Oct. 3.

Emma Corcoran was another key player in the Gauchos success throughout the 2024 regular season as she was named Honorable Mention All-Big West. Corcoran scored her first collegiate goal at Colorado College. The goal gave the Gauchos and early lead but later fell in to the Tigers. She also assisted on the Gauchos lone goal against Sacramento State, in Santa Barbara's second match of the season. The junior played the second most minutes on the team and played in all 90 minutes of a match 14 times.

Rounding out the All-Big West selections, and joining Corcoran as an Honorable Mention All-Big West selection is defender, Sofie Rodriguez. The sophomore appeared in 18 games, making 17 starts for the Blue and Gold. As a member of the backline, Rodriguez helped the Gauchos to nine shutouts. The San Mateo, California native played in the third most minutes for Santa Barbara including 14 games where she played in all 90 minutes.
