HOW IT HAPPENED
Another week, another record for Kyle Brill in an IM event. His victory in the 200-yarder takes him to fifth all-time in the Gaucho record books (1:45.90).
The highlight of the opening events came when Matt Driscoll, Kyle Brill, Justin Wong, and Austin Sparrow swam 3:07.56 in the 400-yard medley relay. This time sits atop all others in Santa Barbara history and bests second place by over three seconds.
Relay teams were on a heater, with the men also capturing the 200-yard freestyle relay via Austin Sparrow, Justin Wong, Zachary Tamusaitis, and Matt Driscoll (1:18.51). The women broke records too. In the 200-yard freestyle relay Ashley Ray, Alexi Zuckerman, Gretta Callison, and Miranda Stevenson collaborated for not only a victory – but a finish for the fourth-best time in program history (1:31.35).
