HOUSTON, TX – UC Santa Barbara was back in the water today, out in Houston, Texas, for day two (sessions two and three) of the Big West Conference Championships. After session three, the University of Hawaii leads the women's scoring with 271 points, and UC Santa Barbara is in second with 225 points. UC Davis rounded out the podium with 217 points; UC San Diego is in fourth with 207, and the University of San Diego is in fifth place (133). Seattle U sits in sixth with 80 points; Cal State Bakersfield is in seventh with 78. The men's scoreboard reads: Grand Canyon (319), University of Hawaii (302), UC San Diego (207), Cal State Bakersfield (171.5), UC Santa Barbara (166), and Seattle U (113.5).
How It Happened
Samantha Banos has continued her dominant year, adding another podium finish to her long list. Banos finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:46.88.
Miranda Stevenson added to the Gaucho's strong performance; she placed third in the 50 freestyle (22.73). The women's 200 free relay team backed up its strong individual performances with a second-place finish and a new school record.
Alexi Zuckerman, Greta Callison,
Eugenie Lanilis, and
Miranda Stevenson all had a hand in the UCSB record (1:29.44).

Tomorrow, the Big West Championship meet will get underway at 8 a.m. Pacific time. The afternoon session will begin again at 4 p.m. Pacific time, Friday's sessions will have six events. Saturday will mark the final day of Big West competition; following Feb. 14, swimmers will begin to prepare for National Championships
