UC Santa Barbara Wraps up Strong Day Three

HOUSTON, TX –  Today, the Blue and Gold were back in the water out in Houston, Texas. The women's team sits in fourth place after day three behind the University of Hawaii, UC Davis, and UC San Diego. The University of San Diego is in fifth place, followed by Seattle U and Cal State Bakersfield. The Men's team has climbed to third place after session five. The University of Hawaii leads the men's scoreboards, and Grand Canyon University sits in second. Behind the Gauchos, UC San Diego, Cal State Bakersfield, and Seattle U sit just off the podium.
How It Happened
Makena Leacox set the tone for day three; she placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 52.91. Jack Hendrick finished third in the 400 IM (3:53.04). Elek Zettle placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:35.85. Samantha Banos placed second in the 200 free (1:46.36). Ashley Ray brought home the second-place finish in 100 yard breast stroke with a time of 1:00.67. Jonah Lee clinched the third-place finish in the 100 breast (53.92).
What is to Come?
Tomorrow will be the last day of the Big West Championship meet. The morning session will begin at 8 a.m. Pacific time, and the evening session will again begin at 4 p.m. The National Championship meet will take place in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of March for those who qualify.
