SEATTLE, Wash. – UC Santa Barbara Women's Indoor Track wrapped up their trip to Washington today with the second day of the Husky Classic. After three meets in the Evergreen state, the team achieved once again, putting themselves in the top ranks of competition.
Aoife Hernon blazed through the ranks in the 400m Dash, scoring second with an impressive time of 55.93s. Abigail Monti, Alison Tjoe, and Meagan Kennedy followed up consecutively in 11th, 12th, and 13th places. Tjoe set a new personal record in the race, putting up a new best of 59.57s. Kennedy, a freshman, set a collegiate best of 59.63 seconds in the dash.
Isabella Vally set a personal best in the 60m, earning a time of 8.11s in the dash. Emma Barthel placed eleventh out of 27 in the long jump, landing a mark of 5.32m. Jessica Swalve threw the shot put, tossing a distance of 11.70m.
The Gauchos' next and final stop of the Indoor Season will be the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held one month away in Boston on March 8 and 9. In the meantime, the Gauchos will look to the upcoming outdoor season.
