Gauchos Drop Final Two Matches of Homestand

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team was defeated by the Texas Tech Lady Raiders in a match that took place from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning. The Gauchos were unable to overcome the Lady Raiders competitive singles play and fell 4-1. The Gauchos dropped their match against Arizona as they fell 4-2 to the Wildcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tyra Richardson opened up the match on court four with a straight set victory 6-3, 6-4. On court two, Camille Kiss put in a comeback effort, dropping the second set in a tiebreaker, while Amelia Honor started off strong with a first set win before Texas Tech's Cristina Tiglea ultimately took the win. The Lady Raiders picked up one more singles point to extend the lead 3-1 before play had to be paused. 

The next morning, the match wrapped up with Texas securing the clinching singles point against Lucy Lu on court five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos had the early advantage with Amelia Honer winning 6-1, 6-1, on court one. Arizona then rattled off three straight-set wins on courts four, five, and six to take the lead 3-1. 

Camille Kiss had a standout performance in the No. 2 position, picking up another point for Santa Barbara after dropping the first set. Tyra Richardson put up a valiant effort, but was defeated by her Wildcat opponent 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 in a close competition that would clinch the match for Arizona.
