BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The UC Santa Barbara Golf team wrapped up the Jackrabbit Invitational hosted by the South Dakota State University. The Gauchos had one of their best outings of the season as they finished the tournament in second out of 12 teams.
The two-day tournament proved to be a great showing as they continued to get better during each of the three rounds.
Blake McGovern was a big part of that as he finished the tournament tied for second. He went even in the first round, which was good enough for him to be tied for sixth. From there, he went three under to be tied for first before rounding out the tournament with a 72, which was good enough to be tied for second out of 84 golfers.
Nick Waldock was next up for the Gauchos. He started the tournament shooting 81 in the first round before having a remarkable recovery in the second, shooting 67 through 18 holes. He then finished out the third round with a 72, which was good enough for him to finish tied for 15th.
Host South Dakota State finished the tournament in first place. The Jackrabbits also had the golfer who won the tournament in Bryson Mercier, who went five-under for all three rounds.
The Gauchos will have a quick turnaround as they are back in action on Monday, March 11 at the Saticoy Invitational hosted by Pepperdine University.
