SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team secured a big win against No. 32 Southern Methodist on Wednesday afternoon. After clinching the doubles point, four well-earned wins in singles led the Blue and Gold to the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite the Mustangs posting a dominant 6-0 win to open the day in doubles, SMU fell behind as the Gauchos took the final two wins. Amelia Honor and Kira Reuter pulled out a 6-2 victory in the first position. Things got close for Lucy Lu and Camille Kiss, with the score at an even 5-5 on court two, but the duo fought hard and clinched the point with a 7-5 win.

The Mustangs came back with the first singles victory in the No. 3 spot. But Camille Kiss kept her winning ways going at the second position, downing No. 118 Drew Morris, 7-5, 6-2. On court four, Lucy Lu dropped a close second-set tiebreaker that gave the Mustangs another point, but it would be their final win of the day. 

Carla Pacot and Katarina Vayser both had standout performances, coming back to grab the win after dropping their first sets. With the score at 3-2, Vayser's win clinched the victory for the Gauchos. With the match in hand, No. 63 Amelia Honor wrapped up play with a defeat of SMU's Taylor Johnson to provide the final 5-2 margin.
