SAN DIEGO – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team faced an upset by No. 5-seed Cal Poly, ending their season with a 4-2 defeat in the semifinal round of the Big West Championship held on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
No. 41 Amelia Honor and Kira Reuter helped the Gauchos jump out to an early lead, downing the sibling duo of Delanie and Peyton Dunkle, 6-4. The Mustangs retaliated with a 6-2 defeat of Camille Kiss and Lucy Lu on court two. The pivotal doubles point was clinched by Carla Pacot and Anna Weissheim, securing a 6-4 triumph in the third position.

Despite a valiant effort, the Gauchos succumbed to the impressive singles performance of Cal Poly, conceding straight-set victories on courts four, two, three, and five. Notably, #48-ranked Amelia Honor claimed the singular singles victory for UC Santa Barbara in the first position with a commendable 6-4, 6-4 win.
