April McDivitt Named to Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's Silver Anniversary Team

NEW CASTLE, Ind. - Eighteen women have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2024 Silver Anniversary Team, based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago. Among the inductees is former UC Santa Barbara Gaucho, April (McDivitt) Schilling.

The Connersville High School alum joined UC Santa Barbara after spending three season at the University of Tennessee. Prior to her commitment to Tennessee, McDivitt was named 1999 Miss Basketball and named an Indiana All-Star. The awards did not stop there as she also received All-American honors from the WBCA, was named a finalist for the Naismith Award that honors the National Player of the Year. She was also named Second Team All-USA by USA Today and First Team All-State by the Associated Press.

She also holds the Connersville school records for career points (1,908), assists (554), steals (446), field goals (673) and three-point field goals (271). If that wasn't enough McDivitt led her team to three 20-win seasons and won the 1995 Hall of Fame Classic.

During her time at Santa Barbara, McDivitt helped the Gauchos win 2003-04 Big West Championship and go on a historic run to the NCAA Sweet 16.

The Gauchos would end up falling in the Sweet 16 to eventual National Champion, UConn. In that game McDivitt scored a career-high 20 points. She was later named NCAA Tournament All-East Region and All-Big West Honorable Mention and Big West All-Academic. At seasons end she led the Gauchos in three-point field goal percentage (.381), steals (56) and assists (136).

Her .381 three-point field goal percentage ranks ninth all-time in Gaucho program history.

2024 Women's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 22nd Women's Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
