Jimenez Inks First Two Recruits of 2024-25 Class

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball team will welcome two student-athletes for the 2024-25 season. Head Coach Renee Jimenez inked transfer Martha Pietsch and international student Bojana Radnijic.
 
Pietsch joins the Gauchos after spending the last two seasons at Oregon State. As a Beaver, Pietsch played in 36 games scoring 81 total points while averaging just over 10 minutes off the bench. In the 2023-24 season, Pietsch helped the Beavers to an NCAA Elite Eight appearance as a No. 12 seed, eventually losing to National Champions, South Carolina.
 
"We are extremely excited to welcome Martha (Pietsch) to the Gaucho family," said Jimenez. "She brings high-level playing experience from both international competition and Oregon State. She has a competitive fire that will impact our program immediately. A big Gaucho welcome to Martha and her family."
 
Before committing to Oregon State Pietsch was a member of the German National Team system at multiple levels. She competed in the 2019 FIBA U16 European Championships, averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She also averaged 9.8 points and 5.5 assists per game on the German U20 team at the European Championships.
 
Radnjic will join the Blue and Gold hailing from Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The Montenegrin played for the Montenegro National Team during the U20 Division B European Championships. During the Championships, the combo guard averaged 2.7 points 1.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists en route to helping the team to a Division B Championship. During the event's group phase, Radnjic helped Montenegro outscore their opponents by 63 points while on the court. She recorded a +34 outing against Kosovo and a +25 outing against Nort Macedonia. She also recorded a tournament-high six assists against Kosovo. 
 
"We are thrilled to welcome Bojana (Radnjic) to the Gaucho family," Jimenez said. "Bojana is a highly skilled guard whose game will make a significant impact to The Big West. Her length and basketball IQ make her a special player that we are excited to add to our team. A big Gaucho welcome to Bojana and her family."
