VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball alumnus
Ryan Wilcox took his skills from indoor volleyball to the beach as he won the AVP Virginia Beach Open this past weekend.
Wilcox, with his partner Tri Bourne, had plenty of work to do in Virginia Beach to come out on top. The duo based out of California defeated Chaim Schalk and James Shaw in the semifinals with a three-set victory that went into extra points. Then, Wilcox and Bourne completed the reverse sweep in the final match against Cody Caldwell and Seain Cook with scores of 16-21, 21-19 and 15-13.
This is Wilcox's first time winning an AVP title. He will compete again with Bourne from Aug. 16-18 at the Manhattan Beach Open.
