SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – For the second time this season and second week in a row, UC Santa Barbara senior
Samantha Banos has been named The Big West
Athlete of the Week.
Banos earns the nomination after swimming two season bests in the 50 fly (25.57) and the 200 fly (1:57.88). She placed first in the 200 fly this past weekend at the UC San Diego Invitational, defeating Cal's 2024 Olympic medalist Claire Weinstein.
Banos also recorded two personal bests in the 100 free (50.32) and the 100 fly (53.84). She swam in both the 200 free and medley relays.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Gauchos are sending three swimmers to the MPSF Open Water Championships this weekend on Saturday beginning at 9am and 10:45am.
